Figures Show Dramatic Rise in Iranian Petrochemical Exports to Russia: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The exports of Iranian petrochemical products to Russia have increased considerably over the past few years, CEO of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran said.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting between Iran’s oil minister and deputy prime minister of Russia, held in Moscow on Thursday, Hassan Abbaszadeh said the close cooperation between Iran and Russia has resulted in a remarkable increase in the Iranian exports.

Pointing to a dramatic rise in trade exchanges between Iran and Russia in the energy sector, the official said Iran exported more than $250 million in petrochemical products to Russia in the last year alone.

The Iranian petrochemical companies have gained a foothold in Russia after attending the specialized exhibitions in that country, he added.

Abbaszadeh also extolled the benefits of a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), saying the new deals between Tehran and Moscow have eased the Iranian petrochemical companies’ access to markets in Russia and the EAEU member states.
