Iran Condemns Paraguay’s Move against IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Paraguayan government’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a so-called terrorist organization.

Director General of the Americas at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Issa Kamali, strongly condemned the insulting move by the Paraguayan government against the IRGC.

Kamali denounced Paraguay’s move as illegal, unwarranted, and being in violation of the international legal rules and norms.

He voiced regret over Paraguay’s compliance with the anti-Iranian policies of the genocidal and occupying Zionist regime and stressed the international responsibility of the Paraguayan government for this wrongful act, the ministry’s website reported.

Kamali said the politically-motivated action of the Paraguayan government sets a dangerous precedent as it was designed and implemented at the insistence of the Zionist regime to divert world public opinion from the genocide in Gaza, and therefore it constitutes the Paraguayan policymakers' complicity with criminals who are under investigation by the International Criminal Court.

He spoke about the high, empowering, and honorable place of the IRGC as part of the official armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has played an unparalleled role in defending Iran’s sovereignty and combating terrorism, including Daesh (ISIL or ISIS).

He underlined the Islamic Republic of Iran’s resolve to take all necessary measures to defend the status and credibility of its armed forces in the face of any hostile labeling.
