Iran Open to Inspections, But Won’t Forgo Nuclear Technology: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Expressing Iran’s readiness for inspections by the IAEA to give assurances about its peaceful nuclear program, President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that Tehran will not abandon its nuclear rights and achievements by any means.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, held in Tehran on Saturday, Pezeshkian highlighted the transparent and peaceful nuclear activities of Iran.

Pointing to the indirect negotiations between Iran and US that have been in progress since April, the president said the other side is looking for excuses while Tehran has made it clear that its nuclear program is peaceful and has proved in practice that it is not pursuing nukes or weapons of mass destruction.

Highlighting the UN nuclear agency’s admission that Iran’s nuclear program is transparent, Pezeshkian said, “While we are still ready for inspections, we won’t approve of any nations being deprived of knowledge and scientific technologies and achievements.”

Depriving the nations of vital technologies in the health sector, agriculture and scientific innovation will be tantamount to depriving the human beings of celestial blessings, which is totally unacceptable, he stated.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is always prepared to hear logical words, but will never give in to bullying,” the president underlined.

Pezeshkian further voiced Iran’s readiness to promote cooperation with all Muslim nations, including Kazakhstan, and share the experiences and employ the joint capacities to ensure sustainable development and progress.

For his part, Nurtleu said Kazakhstan respects Iran’s logical stances on its peaceful nuclear activities.

Hailing Iran as a civilized nation, the foreign minister reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for Iran’s right to enjoy nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran and the US have held five rounds of talks since April 12, mediated by Oman, with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
