"The irresponsible remarks made by a small group of countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), regarding the law enforcement actions of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) police constitute a gross interference in China's internal affairs and the rule of law in the Hong Kong SAR. We strongly condemn such remarks," said a spokesperson for the embassy, Xinhua reported.
The spokesperson made the remarks in response to the G7's comments on Friday regarding the arrest warrants announced on July 25 by the Hong Kong Police Force against 19 absconded anti-China disruptors.
"We firmly support the Hong Kong SAR government in performing its duties in accordance with the law, and firmly support the Hong Kong police in taking law enforcement actions in accordance with the law," said the spokesperson.
"The collusion of these countries to meddle in the rule of law in Hong Kong only further exposes their double standards and hypocrisy on issues of human rights and the rule of law," said the spokesperson, adding that it will only strengthen the resolve and will of the Hong Kong SAR government to administer Hong Kong in accordance with the law and to punish crime.
"We once again urge the relevant countries to stop fabricating excuses for shielding criminals and to cease interfering in China's internal affairs," said the spokesperson.
