In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Araqchi and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Eduardo Gil Pinto discussed the bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Caribbean.
They also reviewed relations and cooperation in various fields, including economic, trade and technological issues, and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as within the framework of South-South cooperation.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the international developments and the latest situation in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Araqchi condemned the bullying approach of the US toward Venezuela and other independent developing countries in the Western Hemisphere.
He said the US’ threat of the use of force against Venezuela constitutes a clear and serious violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and the peremptory norms of international law.
Araqchi underlined the collective responsibility of the international community to safeguard the principles and objectives of the United Nations in the face of aggressive US unilateralism.
Referring to the activities of the Zionist regime in the Caribbean and Latin America, Araqchi called these moves a major threat to the region’s peace, stability and calm.
The Iranian foreign minister stressed the responsibility of all governments to prosecute and punish the officials of the Israeli regime who are being pursued for committing genocide and other heinous crimes.
For his part, the Venezuelan foreign minister expressed gratitude for the principled positions of Iran, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the strategic relations between Tehran and Caracas.
He also highlighted the resilience and resistance of the Venezuelan people and government against the illegal US pressures and interventions.
