In a statement on Thursday, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Switzerland said it was saddened by the deaths of dozens of Swiss citizens in the incident and extended sympathy to the victims’ families.

“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bern expresses its deep regret over the explosion at the Crans-Montana ski resort, which resulted in the killing and injury of a number of citizens, extends its condolences to the people of Switzerland and the bereaved families, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured,” the statement said.

In the early hours of the 2026 New Year, a devastating fire broke out at a nightclub located in the luxury Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland’s Valais canton.

The incident has so far killed about 40 people and injured 115 others, according to reports.

The fire, which occurred during New Year eve celebrations, has been described as one of the worst recent disasters in Switzerland’s history.
