The gathering brought together Russian thinkers, political figures, cultural and academic personalities, and Muslim and Christian clerics to discuss the enduring legacy of Gen. Soleimani’s “school of thought,” according to Iran’s embassy in Moscow.
According to the embassy, the event was hosted and organized by Sergei Baburin, a former deputy speaker of the State Duma and current secretary general of the Russian People’s Union party.
Russia’s Sunni Muslim Religious Directorate and grassroots activists supporting the liberation of Al-Quds also took part in organizing the ceremony.
Opening the event, Baburin said General Soleimani had “neutralized the plan to Judaize Al-Quds and grounded the terrorists supported by the United States,” adding that this was why the Iranian commander had drawn the “anger and wrath of the United States and Israel.”
He added that despite previous US President Donald Trump’s admission that he personally ordered the assassination of “a general of an independent country on the soil of another independent country,” the international community “remained silent and showed no reaction.”
Meanwhile, Baburin referred to US and Israeli aggression against Iranian territory, saying that this year the United States had again violated all principles of international law by carrying out missile and air strikes against Iranian cities and residents, while international institutions and human rights organizations again remained silent.
“This shows the terrorist nature of a state that makes the greatest misuse of the silence and inaction of the international community and so-called human rights organizations,” Baburin said.
Highlighting the role of General Soleimani in defending Islamic values, Baburin described the late commander as a warrior against “global evil.”
He said Soleimani taught the world how to confront a hypocritical, multi-faced entity, of which global Zionism was a key part.
“We must continue his path, which ultimately leads to the liberation of Al-Quds as the capital of Palestine and the end of Zionist occupation,” he added.
Separately, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, described Soleimani as a complete reflection of humanitarian values and a symbol of the struggle against injustice in the world.
In another address, Ozgur Bursali, secretary general of Turkey’s Vatan Party, said Soleimani was a widely known figure whose fight against imperialism and Zionism had tied his name to the defense of the oppressed and made him popular among freedom seekers worldwide.
Meanwhile, a bishop of the Moscow Orthodox Church, a deputy head of Russia’s Sunni Muslim Religious Directorate, and a number of Russian Muslim and Christian scholars, as well as cultural, political and academic figures, described Soleimani as a lasting legacy for all humanity and a symbol of resistance to oppression and commitment to human dignity.
