Foreign Ministry Refutes US’ Claim of Concern for Iranians

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the interfering comments by the US president and other American officials about Iran’s internal affairs, rejecting them as a violation of international law and a continuation of Washington’s hostile and bullying policies against the Iranian nation.

In a statement released on Friday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran strongly condemned the interfering remarks made by the president and other American officials regarding Iran’s internal affairs.

It stated that such irresponsible positions, which are a continuation of the US’ bullying and unlawful approach toward the Iranian nation, not only constitute a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law concerning respect for national sovereignty, but are also considered an incitement to violence and terrorism against Iranian citizens.

Recalling the long history of criminal interference by successive US administrations in Iran’s affairs, the Foreign Ministry described claims of concern for the great Iranian nation as hypocritical and aimed at deceiving public opinion and covering up the numerous crimes committed against Iranians.

Complicity in planning and carrying out the disgraceful coup of August 1953, cooperation with Saddam’s regime during the eight-year war against Iran, the downing of an Iranian civilian passenger plane in 1988 and the killing of 300 innocent people over the Persian Gulf, complicity and partnership with the Israeli regime in attacks on vital infrastructure and Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities in June 2025 and in the assassination and killing of Iranians, as well as decades of cruel and inhumane sanctions targeting the fundamental rights and livelihoods of Iranians, are clear examples of America’s hostility toward the Iranian people, the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry of Iran underscored the duties and responsibilities of the United Nations Security Council and the Secretary-General, in accordance with the UN Charter, to safeguard international peace and security in the face of the US’ aggressive unilateralism, stressing that Iranians, through dialogue and interaction among themselves to resolve problems, will not allow any malicious interference.

The Foreign Ministry also assessed the threatening remarks by American officials against Iran as being in line with the Israeli regime’s tension-escalating policies in the region, and emphasized that Iran’s response to any act of aggression will be swift, decisive, and comprehensive.

It is evident that responsibility for the consequences of such a situation—which could further plunge the entire region into crisis and instability—will rest entirely with the US regime, the statement concluded.

Earlier on Friday, US President Donald Trump repeated accusations against Iran and expressed support for recent unrest, claiming Iranian authorities were firing on what he described as “peaceful protesters.”

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump said that if Iran were to shoot at peaceful protesters, the United States would intervene to “save them.”

“We are locked and loaded and ready to go,” Trump wrote.
