US Attack on Venezuela Sparks Global Condemnation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The United States carried out large-scale military strikes on Venezuela and detained President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, triggering widespread international condemnation and renewed accusations of American imperial aggression.

World

Turkey, Iran, China, Russia, and numerous countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe denounced the US operation as a blatant violation of Venezuelan sovereignty and the UN Charter, warning of severe regional and global consequences.

Iran described the attack as a “textbook act of aggression,” stressing Venezuela’s inherent right to self-defense and calling for immediate UN action against Washington’s unlawful use of force.

China condemned US “hegemonic acts,” warning that the assault threatens peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, while Russia reaffirmed firm solidarity with the Venezuelan government in the face of armed aggression.

Venezuela accused the US of bombing civilian and military infrastructure and declared a national emergency, as US President Donald Trump publicly confirmed the strikes and openly admitted to the capture and removal of the Venezuelan leadership.

Across the world, governments and international organizations — including the African Union, South Africa, and multiple European states — warned that unilateral US military action undermines the international order and sets a dangerous precedent.

Protests erupted in several countries, including Greece, where demonstrators condemned US imperialism and compared the attack to past American wars of destruction.

While US allies such as Israel, Britain, and Ukraine welcomed the overthrow of Maduro, their positions stood in stark contrast to the overwhelming global reaction rejecting regime-change wars and the normalization of military coercion.

The assault follows months of US pressure and unproven accusations against Caracas, reinforcing long-standing criticism that Washington continues to rely on force, destabilization, and abductions of foreign leaders to impose its political will.

The events in Venezuela have further exposed the erosion of international law under US dominance, fueling fears that unchecked American militarism is pushing the world toward greater instability and conflict.
