Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart during a visit to Tehran on Saturday, Al Busaidi pointed to the “hopefulness and positive atmosphere” prevailing in the relations between Oman and Iran.
The Omani foreign minister said it is important to get all countries involved in cooperation.
He emphasized that Oman has always adopted the policy of keeping the channels of consultation among all countries open in order to deal with the challenges, adding that his country is glad to proceed with such efforts.
Pointing to the talks held with the Iranian foreign minister about the latest developments in Yemen and Palestine, Al Busaidi said Muscat and Tehran share views about the formation of a Palestinian government.
Diplomacy is the sole way of resolving crises and preventing tensions, the top Omani diplomat added.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the two nations are determined to broaden ties in all fields.
Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to protection of regional stability and cooperation with the other countries to ensure peace, Araqchi praised Oman for playing a constructive role in mediation among the countries, specifically in the past nuclear talks between Iran and the US that, unfortunately, ended in an imposed war.
Iran maintains that protection of independent sovereignty of states is a fundamental principle of the international law and that nobody is allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of any country, Araqchi said.
He noted that Iran and Oman have voiced readiness to reach a lasting solution for stability in Yemen, stressing that both Tehran and Muscat call for Yemen’s unity and integrity and are opposed to any plan for disintegration of the Arab country.
