Cold Snap Claims Life of Another Palestinian Infant in Gaza Refugee Camps

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Palestinian infant has died from a severe cold in Gaza refugee camps, Palestinian news sources reported on Friday, raising the death toll from the cold snap to over 15.

The child, Mahmoud al-Aqra, seven days old, succumbed to the cold in the Dera'al-Balah area, according to Gaza hospital officials. The cold weather has exacerbated the plight of Palestinian refugees already struggling in overcrowded camps lacking adequate heating and shelter amid ongoing Israeli incursions into Gaza.

Separately, the Palestinian government's media office in Gaza reported 1,193 violations of a ceasefire by Israeli regime forces. The report stated that only 23,119 aid trucks have entered Gaza in the 90 days since a truce was established, falling far short of the 54,000 required.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported a total of 71,409 Palestinian deaths since the Israeli genocidal war began in October 2023.

Israel initiated its war on Gaza with the stated goals of dismantling Hamas and securing the release of Israeli hostages. However, Israel ultimately reached a deal with Hamas for hostage exchanges without achieving any of the stated goals.

The Israeli army formally announced the implementation of a ceasefire on Friday, October 18, 2025, but continues to obstruct its full observance. The Israeli offensive on Gaza, supported by the United States, has caused widespread destruction, destroying 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure. The United Nations estimates the cost of rebuilding the damage at approximately $70 billion.
