8 Police Special Forces Martyred in Iran Riots

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The recent violent riots in Iran have resulted in the martyrdom of eight servicemen of the Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA) Special Units.

The commander of the FARAJA Special Units said the eight security forces were martyred on January 8 and 9 during missions to quell riots in various cities of Iran.

General Masoud Mosaddeq said the servicemen were martyred after swarms of violent rioters attacked them by firing bullets and hitting the law enforcement forces with various weapons.

A number of security sources have reported that around 200 leaders and operational heads of terrorist groups have been arrested in the country so far, and a considerable amount of ammunition, weapons, grenades and Molotov cocktails have been confiscated from the dens of rioters.

Qodratollah Mohammadi, the chief of the Fire Department of Tehran, said armed rioters have set 26 houses ablaze, and launched arson attacks on 34 mosques, 40 banks, 15 shopping centers, 13 government building, and 50 vehicles, including public service cars.

Violent rioters favoring monarchy have vandalized public and private properties in a number of cities across Iran in the past recent days, killing some ordinary people and security forces and inflicting injuries on others.

The violent unrest that erupted in a number of Iranian cities caused damages to government buildings, private shops, and even mosques.

The rioters backing monarchy have vandalized public properties, blocked streets, attacked the administrative buildings and Police stations, and injured a number of security and law enforcement forces.
