Germany Interested in Expanding Scientific, Academic Cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of the German Academic Exchange Service Professor Dr. Margret Wintermantel underlined Berlin’s keenness to develop scientific and academic cooperation with Iran.

In a Sunday meeting with Iran’s acting minister of science, research and technology here in Tehran, Professor Wintermantel said German academic centers are prepared for extensive scientific and technological collaborations with the Iranian universities.

“We believe that scientific relations between countries help develop creativities and give us the power to have better understanding of one another,” said Wintermantel, who is on a visit to Iran leading a senior German academic delegation.

Iran’s acting Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Ali Najafi, for his part, described establishment of long-term scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries as necessary.

He said scientific, educational and technological collaborations are important in themselves but what makes them even more momentous is their role in the development of economic and political relations.

Najafi further described Iran and Germany as two counties that have played major roles in the advancement of human civilization.
