Iran Determined to Boost Ties with EU: Parliament Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that Tehran is resolved to develop its relations with the member states of the European Union in all spheres.

There have been collaborations between Iran and Europe in recent years in various spheres and “we are determined to expand the relations,” Larijani said in a joint press conference with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz in Tehran on Saturday.

He further highlighted the EU’s role in resolving major international issues, adding that Iran is aware of the important position of the block in decision-making in the continent.

Larijani Further pointed to the recent nuclear agreement between Tehran and six world powers and said the grounds have been provided for closer cooperation between the Islamic Republic and the EU.

His remarks come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
