Victory on Terrorism Possible with Unity among Iran, Russia, Syria: Ex-Deputy Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A former Syrian deputy minister of industry underlined that close cooperation among Iran, Syria and Russia as well as countries fighting in the anti-Israeli Resistance Front can guarantee the success of global campaign against terrorism.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Muwafaq al-Basha cast doubts over the sincerity of the US-led coalition against Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group in the Middle East, saying that Washington itself created the group to reach its goals.

He further emphasized that real fight against terrorism is possible with the cooperation and unity of Axis of Resistance countries and the deterrent power of Iran, Russia and Syria.

The former deputy minister said through such cooperation thwarting the US-Zionist plots in the region is possible.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

Meanwhile, Russia’s recent aerial support for the Syrian forces has given fresh impetus to the fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.

Since late September, Russia has been carrying out bombings against Daesh terrorists in Syria, after Russia's parliament granted President Putin authorization to deploy the country's air force abroad.

Iran has also remained a close ally of Syria and supports its legitimate government in the face of foreign-backed militancy.

More than 260,000 people have died in nearly five years of conflict in Syria -overwhelmingly civilians- and around 4 million Syrian people are now refugees in other countries. Around 8 million others have been displaced internally.
