Iran’s Hashemi Takes Silver at Asian Weightlifting Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ali Hashemi from Iran won a silver medal in the 2016 Asian Weightlifting Championships on Friday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Hashemi lifted 174kg in the snatch and 200kg in clean and jerk in the 94kg weight category.
He won the silver medal for a total of 374kg.
Kazakhstan’s Vladimir Sedov won the gold medal with a total of 386kg and bronze medal went to South Korean Park Han-woong with 368kg.
On Thursday, Iran’s Ayoub Mousavi had claimed a silver medal in the 85kg.
The tournament, which will run until April 30, has brought a total of 161 lifters from 30 countries together and serves as a qualification event for the Olympics.
