Iran’s Molaei Takes Bronze at Asian Weightlifting Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahador Molaei from Iran claimed a bronze medal at the 2016 Asian Weightlifting Championships on Saturday.

Molaei lifted 180kg in snatch and 247kg in clean and jerk for a total of 427kg.

Gold medal went to Chen Shih-chieh from Chinese Taipei with 432kg and Turkmenistan’s Hojamuhammet Toychyyev claimed a silver with 427kg.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s Mohammad Reza Barari claimed the gold medal with a total of 401kg.

Iran’s Ayoub Mousavi in the 85kg and Ali Hashemi in the 94kg had already won two silver medals in the event.

China finished in the first place with 506.7 points.

Iran became runner-up with 500.8 and Uzbekistan came third with 463.8.

The tournament brought a total of 161 lifters from 30 countries together in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
