Riyadh, Paris Would Be to Blame for Any Terrorist Acts in Iran: Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top Iranian commander slammed the Saudi and French governments for their active presence in a recent gathering of the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) and said any possible acts of terror in Iran will be blamed on these two governments.
In remarks released on Sunday, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri denounced the MKO meeting held earlier this month in Paris as a “ridiculous show of support for MKO terrorists” by Saudis, a “dark spot” in the French government’s record, and obvious interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
“Hosting the MKO grouplet, as one of the most dangerous and criminal terrorist groups in the world, and the presence of some Western and Arab political figures in the gathering are indicative of the countries’ support for terrorism,” he stated.
The commander went on to say that the remarks made by former Saudi spy chief Turki bin Faisal in the meeting and his call on MKO terrorists to act against Iran and the Islamic Revolution are “something that cannot be simply overlooked”.
“Fingers of blame would be pointed at Riyadh and Paris in case of possible terrorist acts in Iran,” he stressed.
A number of Saudi officials and supporters of the MKO, including Turki bin Faisal, attended the gathering of the terrorists in Paris on July 9 and made remarks against Iran.
The MKO - listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community - fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given a camp by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
They fought on the side of Saddam during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88). They were also involved in the bloody repression of Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.
The notorious group is also responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979.
More than 17,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed at the hands of the MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places, and targeted killings.
