Iranian President Congratulates Afghanistan on National Day
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani congratulated neighboring Afghanistan on its national day.
In a message to his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday, President Rouhani congratulated the Afghan government and nation on its Independence Day.
The president also expressed the hope for the enhancement of relations between Tehran and Kabul in all fields.
The Independence Day is celebrated in Afghanistan on August 19 to commemorate the Anglo-Afghan Treaty of 1919, an agreement between Afghanistan and Britain, signed in Rawalpindi.
According to the treaty, Britain recognized Afghanistan's independence.
