Resistance Forces Launch Operation in Eastern Aleppo

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s resistance forces launched a large-scale offensive on Tuesday to retake more neighborhoods in the eastern parts of Aleppo from terrorist groups.

The ground operation, which has been organized in four main routes to Aleppo’s eastern areas, is being supported by heavy aerial strikes on terrorist strongholds.

In the meantime, safe passages have been provided for the evacuation of civilians from the war zone.

In another development, the Syrian Army has managed to completely cleanse al-Farafirah neighborhood in old town Aleppo of the terrorist groups.

Aleppo, once Syria’s commercial and industrial hub, has been divided roughly in two since 2012, with the government controlling the west and terrorists the east.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
