Iran’s Emami Gets Yellow Jersey at Jelajah Malaysia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian cyclist Rahim Emami took charge of the yellow jersey with a commanding performance in the opening stage of 2016 Jelajah Malaysia.

The Pishgaman Giant Team rider finished the 206.5km stage in four hours, 44 minutes and five seconds, 18 seconds ahead of second-placed Rustom Lim (7Eleven SAVA RB Philippines).

Rustom's teammate, Edgar Nohales Nieto (+18 seconds), was third, according to nst.com.

Emami’s win also sees him leading the points classification with 15 points.

The second stage will see the riders covering 113.4km from Sungai Siput to Cameron Highlands on Wednesday.

The Jelajah Malaysia is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Malaysia since 1963. The race is part of the UCI Asia Tour and was classified by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as a 2.2 category races. The race exists of only a men's competition over seven stages.
