Tehran, Dodoma Finalize Draft of Agreement on Double Tax Avoidance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tax officials from Iran and Tanzania signed a draft agreement in Dar es Salaam in order to omit double taxation on income and avoid tax evasion.

After holding expert-level meetings between the two countries, the draft of the agreement was finalized between the two governments in Dar es Salaam, the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) reported.

The draft of the agreement was signed by Director General of the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) for Legal and Tax Contracts Affairs Hossein Abdollahi and Commissioner for Policy Analysis of Tanzania’s Ministry of Finance William M. Mhoja, IRNA reported.

Removing double taxation between the two countries, attracting direct investment, promoting economic relations, expanding tax cooperation between the two countries, presenting tax facilities for economic activists and preventing tax evasion on tax incomes are among the main goals of signing the agreement, Abdollahi emphasized.

The agreement should be approved by the parliaments of the two countries, he added.
