Rouhani Meets Spanish Prime Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President Hassan Rouhani met and conferred with the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on the sidelines of the 68th session of UN General Assembly in New York.
The two sides exchanged ideas on bilateral ties and regional and international developments in their Wednesday meeting.
In a message to Rouhani after his election, the Spanish premier had touched on Tehran-Madrid historical relations, saying he was confident that the ties would further expand during the tenure of President Hassan Rouhani.
Spain which is in the 28-member European Union, has supported more diplomatic engagement with the Islamic Republic and has publicly supported Iran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program under the protection of IAEA safeguards.
