Bomb Attack Kills 8 Soldiers in Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A roadside bomb blast killed at least eight Pakistani soldiers in the country's North Waziristan tribal region on Thursday, the army said.

An army statement said the blast also injured several security men.

The blast occurred near Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan near a convoy of the security forces.

No group claimed responsibility. The authorities blame Taliban militants for such attacks, Xinhua reported.

The attack came at a time when the government is engaged in talks with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.

The talks currently face a deadlock over the Taliban demands for the release of prisoners and giving them some areas in South Waziristan.

A surge in attacks has been witnessed since the Taliban announced to end their 40-day ceasefire on April 10.
