Iranian Commander: Islamic Revolution Changed Global Power Structure

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami highlighted the role of the Islamic revolution of Iran in shifting the power balance in the world.

“The Islamic Revolution changed the global power structure as it was a civilizational phenomenon,” General Salami underlined on Tuesday.

He described the 1979 victory of the revolution as a ‘geopolitical shock’ in the world during the final decades of the Cold War.

The senior commander also said the Islamic revolution is deeply rooted in an integrated intellectual system that is capable of providing plans and strategies to counter all challenges.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime in 1979, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
