We Must Defeat Bosnia, Iran’s Ghoochannejhad Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran striker Reza Ghoochannejhad said that they must defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina in their final group match to have a chance of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup knockout stage.

If Iran and Argentina were both to win their games 1-0 then the FIFA Organizing Committee would need to draw lots to determine whether the Super Eagles or Team Melli would advance.

“I hope we get three points against Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are just thinking about beating them to have a chance to qualify for the next stage,” Ghochannejhad told Iran’s Football Federation website.

Argentina could have lost to Iran but Lionel Messi’s late goal put them through to the last 16.

“I am proud of my teammates. We were well-organized and did our best against Argentina. We are satisfied with our performance,” Charlton Athletic striker added.

“Defeat against Argentina was sweet and bitter. We played very well as a team but unfortunately failed to get a point at the end of the match,” Ghoochannejhad said.
