Marco Rodriguez to Referee Brazil-Germany in World Cup Semis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Mexico’s Marco Rodriguez has been picked to officiate Brazil and Germany match in the World Cup semi-final.

Rodriguez, 40, failed to see Luis Suarez’s bite on Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder in Uruguay and Italy match.

FIFA later banned Suarez for nine international matches and four months from all football activity.

Rodriguez has handled two World Cup matches – Uruguay’s 1-0 win against Italy on 24 June and Belgium’s 2-1 defeat of Algeria. It’s his third World Cup finals and the first time he has refereed a game in the knock-out stages.

The Mexican coach will be assisted by his countrymen Marvin Torrentera and Marcos Quintero in the match.

Mark Geiger of the United States has been picked as the fourth official for the match. He was also fourth official for Uruguay vs. Italy.
