French Jobless at New Record in June

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The number of registered unemployed in France rose by 9,400 in June to a new record of 3.398 million, the labor ministry said.

It was a 0.3% increase over May, when the rise was 0.7% from the previous month.

"These figures confirm a fragile recovery," the ministry said in a statement.

"The steps that the government has taken have helped to stem the increase."

Struggling with a stagnant economy, President Francois Hollande's government has so far been unable to cut unemployment, AFP reported.

About 474,000 new job seekers have been added on to the books since President Hollande took office in May 2012.
