Iranian MP Blames US Policies for Spread of Terrorism in Region

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US administration's policies in the region was the main reason behind the spread of terrorism, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

In a Monday meeting with Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa in Tehran, Boroujerdi commented on the latest development in the region and censured the US double-standard policies towards the issue of terrorism.

“The policies of the US and its regional allies are the main factor behind the spread of terrorism in the region,” he said.

Dividing terrorists into “good and bad” ones will not help eradicate terrorism in the region, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian parliamentarian emphasized the need to promote Tehran-Prague relations in all spheres, saying that there are appropriate grounds for deepening of bilateral relations, which should be utilized.

The Czech deputy foreign minister, for his part, described Iran as an important and stable country in the region, and stressed that resolving the regional problems, particularly terrorism, is not possible without the Islamic republic.

Tlapa also stressed the necessity of promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
