Iran’s Javanmardi, Rahman Nominated for IPC Athlete of Month
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Sareh Javanmardi and Siamand Rahman have been nominated for the Allianz Athlete of the Month for October 2014 in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) poll.
Shooter Javanmardidodmani broke two world records and picked up gold in both the P2 (women’s 10m pistol SH1) and the P4 (mixed 50m pistol SH1) in Incheon, South Korea.
Powerlifter Rahman broke his own world record in the men’s over 107kg category three times on his way to glory in Incheon, eventually adding 7kg with a lift of 292.0kg.
Athlete Demba Jarju from Gambia, Chinese wheelchair fencer Rong Jing, wheelchair tennis player Sakhorn Khanthasit from Thailand, and Chinese swimmer Furong Lin are six candidates to win the award.
