West to Bear Brunt of Failure of Iran Nuclear Talks: MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Failure to reach a final deal on Iran's peaceful nuclear program would be rather detrimental to the West and the US, an Iranian lawmaker said.

Seyed Baqer Hosseini, member of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, told the Tasnim News Agency on Monday it is wise for the West, particularly the US, to accept Iran’s inalienable rights and push for a comprehensive nuclear deal.

It would be in the West’s interests to make the negotiations on Iran’s nuclear case yield results, he told Tasnim News Agency at the 20th Exhibition of Press and News Agencies in Tehran.

“Failure of the talks would be detrimental to the West and the US, because we have been slapped with sanctions since the outset of the Islamic Revolution (in 1979), and the very same sanctions have certainly led the Iranian nation to victory in various arenas,” Hosseini noted.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, Britain, the US, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final deal to end a decade of impasse over Tehran’s civilian nuclear work.

They are preparing for a new round of talks slated for November 18 in Vienna. The negotiations are seen as a last-ditch effort to reach an agreement by November 24 deadline.
