WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final: Khodabakhshi Seizes Silver

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Mahdi Khodabakhshi won a silver medal at the 2014 WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final on Wednesday.

Khodabakhshi lost to Russia’s Albert Gaun 1-0 in the male -80kg final match and claimed a silver medal.

Iran’s Farzan Ashourzadeh, Behnam Asbaghi, Mehdi Khodabakhshi and Sajjad Mardani have participated in the event.

The World Taekwondo Grand Prix events bring together top-seeded global talents in the sport in four male and four female Olympic weight categories. The prestigious Queretaro Grand Prix final, which continues until Dec. 4, has seen 64 athletes from 27 countries in contention.

The participating teams are host Mexico, Korea, Russia, Iran, Germany, France, Cote d’Ivoire and the United States in the men’s division, while host Mexico, Korea, Russia, China, Colombia, France, Cote d’Ivoire and the United States participate in the female category.
