Bahraini Security Forces Arrest 11 Youths near Capital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahraini security forces attacked the village of Sanabis, in the suburbs of the capital city, Manama, and detained about a dozen of youths in the region, opposition activists announced.

In the early hours of Sunday, the Bahraini regime forces stormed the village and abducted 11 young people, the official website of al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Bahrain’s main opposition party, reported.

The regime forces also on Saturday attacked the village of al-Eker, south of Manama, and arrested a religious figure as well as two youths in the village.

Earlier on Saturday, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior summoned the secretary general of al-Wefaq National Islamic Society for investigation following the massive anti-regime protests which were held a day earlier.

Sheikh Ali Salman, the leader of al-Wefaq society, was summoned by the Bahraini Ministry of Interior to appear on Sunday at the Criminal Investigations Building in al-Adliya district.

Al Khalifa security forces have surrounded Salman’s house while delivering the summons to the opposition leader, according to Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society website.

“It is a dangerous and unacceptable measure by the regime to target Sheikh Ali Salman,” the opposition group said.

Al-Wefaq society also emphasized that the massive anti-regime protests by Bahraini people on Friday have angered Al Khalifa regime.

Since mid-February 2011, thousands of protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling on the Al Khalifa royal family to step down from power. The protesters have also slammed the Manama regime’s arrest and torture of political activists.

Since then, many Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
