Iran Marks National Nuclear Technology Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani opened a ceremony in Tehran on Thursday, held to mark the National Nuclear Technology Day.

High-ranking officials, including the cabinet ministers and Chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi attended the gathering.

Before delivering a speech to the conference, President Rouhani visited an exhibition of the latest achievements in the area of nuclear technology.

This is the ninth year Iran is marking the National Nuclear Technology Day.

In recent years, Iranian scientists have made remarkable progress in the field of peaceful nuclear technology despite the sanctions imposed by the West.

This year’s marking in Iran comes after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on April 2 reached a framework nuclear agreement after more than a week of intensive negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.

The framework provides a series of solutions that will be the basis of a comprehensive joint plan of action.
