Expert Talks Held to Overcome Differences in Iran Nuclear Deal: Diplomat

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian diplomat engaged in nuclear talks between Tehran and six world powers said the most recent round of expert talks in Vienna included discussions on how to clear the final agreement of the sticking points.

“In this round of negotiations, the main text and the technical appendices on the nuclear issues and sanctions were further completed and important discussions were held on the possibility of making those texts more clear of the sticking points,” Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for the Political and International Affairs Hamid Baeidinejad, also a member of Iran’s team of nuclear negotiators, wrote on his Instagram page on Saturday.

He made the comments after two sessions of expert talks with representatives from the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), held in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Saturday.

Baeidinejad, however, noted that progress in drafting the texts are very “slow” because of the complicated nature of the talks.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (alternatively known as the P5+1 or E3+3) are in talks to draft and finalize the text of a long-awaited nuclear accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
