Iran to Hold Industrial Expo in Turkmenistan in August

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran plans to set up a second specialized exhibition in Turkmenistan in diverse areas, including oil and gas industries as well as engineering and technical products and services, an organizer said on Saturday.

“The 2nd specialized exhibition on oil, gas and petrochemicals, water and electricity, construction industry as well as engineering and technical services, named ‘Iran Project’ will be held from August 29 to 21 in Ashgabat,” Abdolhamid Asadian, a top executive of the exhibition, told reporters.

He further emphasized that the capacities of the expo will be used to pave the way for goods-for-gas barter between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the organizer touched upon the two neighboring countries’ decision to further enhance economic ties, saying that the two sides are determined to increase the volume of bilateral trade to $60 billion by the next ten years.

Iran’s first specialized exhibition in Turkmenistan was held in August 2014 with the participation of 125 Iranian companies presenting their products and services.

During the opening ceremony of the expo, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said deepening and boosting ties with Turkmenistan is important for Iran.

He underlined that by developing constructive interactions, the two countries can be a model of good-neighborly relations in the region.
