Iran’s President Appreciates Oman's "Constructive Role" in N. Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday highlighted the role Oman played in the course of talks with world powers over Tehran's nuclear energy program.

In a phone conversation with Oman's Sultan Qaboos, Rouhani offered his congratulations on Eid al-Fitr, and thanked the Arab Sultanate for its "constructive role" (in the nuclear talks between Iran and world powers).

The Iranian president also emphasized that Tehran and Muscat should work together to end the ongoing crises in the region.

Sultan Qaboos, for his part, welcomed the nuclear conclusion achieved by Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) on Tuesday.

He also congratulated Rouhani on Eid al-Fitr, and wished him a blessed Eid.

The conversation came after Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 and E3+3) concluded more than two weeks of intensive talks over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program in the Austrian capital of Vienna on July 14.

The negotiating parties reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on the nuclear issue after 22 months of talks.

Oman had a role in brokering the negotiations between Iran and world powers.

Earlier on Wednesday, Speaker of Iran's Parliament Ali Larijani appreciated the efforts and initiatives of Oman's Sultan Qaboos in support of the nuclear talks, saying that Iran would never forget the positive and constructive role of its friends in the region.
