Iran’s Justice Minister, Belarusian Prosecutor General Discuss Legal Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Justice Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi and the visiting Belarusian Prosecutor General Alexander Vladimirovich Konyuk explored avenues for boosting Tehran-Minsk cooperation in legal fields.

At the meeting held in the Iranian capital of Tehran Sunday, Pour-Mohammadi lauded the two countries' ties as “excellent”, and said the two sides have common views on international issues.

He said judicial and legal cooperation between Iran and Belarus could support their economic activities, and noted, “We need legal cooperation in economic projects.”

He also said that the two countries have had good agreements in judicial field and good documents have so far been signed.

On Saturday, Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani had underscored the need for the expansion of mutual cooperation between Iran and Belarus in such fields as human rights and counter-terrorism.

Speaking at a meeting with Vladimirovich Konyuk, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani said Iran and Belarus can further promote their collaborations in different judicial and legal fields.

The two countries are familiar with the judicial systems of each other, and this can pave the way for the promotion of bilateral judicial relations, he added.

Vladimirovich Konyuk, for his part, praised Iran’s judiciary system as one enjoying outstanding features, and expressed Minsk’s readiness to prepare proper legal and judicial grounds for the expansion of economic ties.
