Tehran, Islamabad Stress Peaceful Resolution of Regional Issues

During their meeting held in Islamabad, the two sides exchanged views on regional problems and underscored the necessity for finding peaceful and political resolution of all problems in the region.

Zarif and Aziz also conferred on bilateral issues including economic cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad in various fields including energy and trade.

They also laid emphasis on the need for taking mutual serious steps towards the expansion of economic ties in the new conditions due to be provided after the termination of anti-Iran sanctions thanks to the recent conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers on July 14 in Vienna.

Before his talks with Aziz, Zarif also held a meeting with Pakistan’s Premier Nawaz Sharif in which they explored ways to promote mutual cooperation, particularly in the economic field.

The Iranian minister arrived in Pakistan on Thursday morning as part of his new regional tour started on Tuesday.

Later in the day, Zarif is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Raza Rabbani.

During his one-day stay, Zarif is due to attend a joint session with members of Pakistan National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee.

Zarif on Tuesday started a new tour of regional countries by visiting Lebanon and Syria. After visiting Pakistan, he is also due to pay an official visit to New Delhi, India.
