IRGC Navy Urges Cooperation to Counter Effects of US Presence in Region
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi called for closer interaction among the Persian Gulf countries to counter the effects of US naval presence in the region.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Persian Gulf littoral states, particularly Oman, always attach importance to the establishment of close interaction for the security process which involves nobody except the regional countries, Rear Admiral Fadavi said in a meeting with a high-ranking delegation of Omani military officials in Tehran.
He underlined that security in the region will be further enhanced if the regional countries manage to “develop a specific mechanism” to tap into their own capabilities and counter the (military) presence of ultra-regional countries like the US in the region.
While Americans claim to be after providing security, US presence in the region only intensifies insecurity, the IRGC commander added.
Back in November, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei also referred to the US policies in West Asia as the root cause of the tense situation across the region, adding, “Unlike the view of certain individuals, the US is the main plank of the region’s problems, not part of a solution to the problems.”
