Russian President Putin Discuss Syria with Saudi King Salman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia's President Vladimir Putin has discussed the ongoing crisis in Syria in a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman.

The Kremlin said Friday that Putin and the king "expressed interest in settling the Syrian crisis and ensuring stability and security in the entire region of the Middle East and North Africa."

Putin also reaffirmed his invitation for the king to visit Russia at a time that would be convenient for him, the Kremlin added, AP reported.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency simply said that "diplomatic relations were discussed in addition to the review of the latest developments in the region."

Syria has been entangled in civil war since March 2011. The Daesh (ISIL) Takfiri terrorist group controls parts of the Arab country, mostly in the east.

Russia’s aerial support for the Syrian forces has given fresh impetus to the fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.

Since late September, Russia has been carrying out bombings against the Daesh terrorists in Syria, after Russia’s parliament granted President Putin authorization to deploy the country’s air force abroad.
