Belgium National Team Cancel Training after Brussels Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Belgian national football team have cancelled training in the wake of the suspected terrorist attacks in Brussels on Tuesday.

A host of Premier League stars including Marouane Fellaini, Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele are back in their homeland for the international break.

But they woke to devastating news on Tuesday deadly blasts at Belgium’s Zaventem airport and a Metro station.

The airport is now on ‘lock down’ with all immediate flights into the Belgian capital cancelled.

"We are #alltogether and our thoughts are with the victims. Football is irrelevant today. Training is cancelled," the national team's official Twitter account said, Mirror reported.

Belgian media report that 23 people have been killed and 35 others have been injured in the two attacks on the Brussels airport and Metro system.
