World Cup Qualifier: Iran 1 – 0 South Korea
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran cemented its position at the top of Group A by defeating South Korea in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Final on Tuesday.
Team Melli defeated the Korean team 1-0 thanks to Sardar Azmoun’s 25th minute goal in front of a crowd in excess of 70,000 at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Iran moved on to 10 points from its opening four games, three points clear of South Korea at top of the group.
Iran was the better team and created many chances but the team’s strikers failed to score.
Elsewhere, Uzbekistan defeated China 2-0 in Tashkent and moved to second place with nine points.
Qatar celebrated its first win in four games, beating Syria 1-0 in Doha. The defeat leaves Syria in fourth with four points, one place above Qatar.
China is in the sixth place with one point.
