French President Promises to Evacuate All Refugee Camps in France

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - French President Francois Hollande promised to evacuate not only the Calais jungle camp, but all the refugee camps in France, the French government's Twitter account said Saturday.

Addressing the refugees in one of the special centers for migrants in the city of Doue-la-Fontaine, Hollande stressed that all the refugees in France will be evacuated from camps to the special centers.

"We will not stand the camps, all of them will be evacuated. There are no those migrants in Paris, who have been in the Calais camp, and we will make sure that they are also evacuated," Hollande said, RT reported.

On Friday, media reported that the number of migrants pitching tents and sleeping on Paris streets rose by at least a third since the beginning of Calais camp dismantling and reached 2,500-3,000 people.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that no migrants from Calais came to Paris since the beginning of a dismantling process  and promised to dismantle a spontaneously organized camp in the coming days.

Since 2015, Calais has been the home to a large migrant camp, notorious for its horrible living conditions.

Thousands of migrants have been trying to cross into the United Kingdom via the Channel Tunnel between Folkestone in Britain and Coquelles in Calais.

On Monday, French authorities started to dismantle Calais camp, beginning with the relocation of migrants to other facilities across the country with some minors due to be sent to the United Kingdom.
