Iranian Official Urges Army’s Focus on Military Intelligence

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s military affairs office chief called on the Army Grand Force to boost military intelligence capabilities to foresee the enemies’ next move.

Addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Monday, General Mohammad Shirazi highlighted the significance that Ayatollah Khamenei attaches to military intelligence tactics, before getting ready for practical operations.

Imam Khamenei expects the Armed Forces to “get wise to the enemy” and foresee what its next hostile move would be, he added.

He made the comments at a farewell ceremony to acknowledge outgoing Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan’s services.

On Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei promoted General Pourdastan to lieutenant commander of the Army.

The Leader also called on him to push for an increase in the Army’s “intelligence and operational preparedness” under the command of Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi.

Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari has been appointed by the Leader as the new commander of Army Ground Force.
