FM Urges Japan’s Stronger Presence in Iran Market

TOKYO (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif highlighted the suitable grounds for trade interaction with Japan, calling on the East Asian economic power to boost presence in Iran’s market.

According to Tasnim dispatches, on the second day of his visit to Japan, the top Iranian diplomat held a meeting with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko in Tokyo on Thursday.

Referring to the good grounds for mutual cooperation, Zarif said Japan can increase presence in the Iranian markets.

While Iran and Japan have had formal relations for less than a century, the two nations have had mercantile interactions for more than 1,000 years, Zarif further said, stressing that such bonds could pave the way for broader collaboration in various fields.

For his part, the Japanese minister hailed Iran’s huge capabilities and potential, saying Japan expects a great country like Iran to play a more stabilizing role in the region.

Heading a mainly trade delegation from the Iranian state-run and private enterprises, Zarif arrived in Japan early Wednesday, after visiting India and China.

He has met top Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
