Syrian Forces Retake More Villages in Eastern Aleppo from Daesh

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian army troops backed by allied forces continued their large-scale operation in eastern suburbs of Aleppo, liberating several more villages in southern al-Bab from the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, media reports said.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) stormed the southern outskirts of al-Bab, inflicting heavy casualties on Daesh militants, al-Masdar news Agency reported late on Tuesday.

The Tiger Forces recaptured three villages, including Umm Al-Imad and Tal Rahal, and one hilltop before reaching the key village of Khashbah on Monday afternoon.

Not long after reaching Khashbah, the army overran Daesh positions, imposing full-control over the village as the terrorist group's defenses continued to collapse during the day.

With several villages liberated from Daesh, the Syrian army is setting themselves up for their upcoming al-Bab and Deir Hafer attacks to expel the terrorists from the eastern suburbs of Aleppo, the report said.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

On December 15, Syria announced the liberation of the northern city of Aleppo from the foreign-backed terrorists, with President Bashar al-Assad praising the victory as “history in the making and worthy of more than the word ‘congratulations’.”

The Syrian forces had encircled Aleppo on July 17 after closing off the last terrorist-controlled route into the city.
