Syrian Bombers Strafe Daesh Positions in Homs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian warplanes on Monday pounded the positions of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in the central province of Homs, killing scores of them.

On Monday, the Syrian air force bombed the gathering centers of Daesh militants in eastern Homs, inflicting major losses on them in Haiyan Field in the northwestern countryside of the city of Palmyra, Syria's official news agency, SANA, reported.

Several of the terrorists’ vehicles were destroyed during the bombardments.

Separately, the terrorists’ positions were also targeted by the Syrian forces in the western province of Deir ez-Zor in the areas of al-Maqaber, Liwa al-Tamin and Junaid battalion.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
