Aid Convoys Reach Syria’s Foua, Kefraya after 4 Months

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – A convoy of 18 trucks carrying food and medical supplies entered the besieged Syrian towns of Foua and Kefraya in the northwestern province of Idlib on Wednesday.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the UN aid convoys reached Foua and Kefraya for the first time since November, to deliver medical supplies, food, wheat flour, and nutritional items to people there.

"We are entering #Madaya, #Zabadani, #Foaa & #Kafrya with @SYRedCrescent & @UN delivering much-needed food & medical items," the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and United Nations said.

Reports said that the humanitarian aid has filled the hearts of the two towns’ residents, children in particular, with happiness.

Foua and Kafarya are the only government-held enclave in Idlib's militant-held area. The towns of some 20,000 people have been under siege since 2013. The humanitarian situation remains dire, with a lack of food and basic necessities.
