Iran, Russia to Sign Several Deals During President’s Moscow Visit: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will start an official visit to Russia on Monday to hold talks with high-ranking officials of the country on a range of issues, including political and economic ones, an official said, adding that a number of deals will be signed during the visit.

Heading a large political and economic delegation, Rouhani will leave Tehran for Moscow on Monday at the official invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, the deputy head for communications and information at the Iranian president’s office, Parviz Esmaeili, told the Tasnim News Agency.

In his trip, President Rouhani will meet with his Russian counterpart and other officials of the country and exchange views on various bilateral, regional and international issues, Esmaeili noted.

He added that several cooperation agreements and documents in diverse areas, including legal services, roads and urban development, technology and communications, energy and power, and sports are planned to be signed between the two countries.

Russia and Iran hold regular and close consultation on the region, Syria in particular, toward coordinating their efforts in helping restore security to Western Asia and the Arab country.

Russia, a Syria ally, has been providing military assistance to Damascus in its battle against foreign-backed terrorism.

Iran, also an ally of Damascus, has been lending advisory support to the Syrian counterterrorism push.
